Bexley S.H.I.E.L.D. is working closely with the London Borough of Camden to develop our approach to engaging with parents who have had experience of child protection processes and our services. In Bexley, we are concentrating on working with our F.L.A.R.E. parents group. We are also part of a growing network of Local Authority areas who are seeking to do similar work around listening to parents and engaging them in various conversations about their experiences of our services. On 2 November 2020, we came together with representatives from 15 Local Authority areas (as well as some parents and other stakeholders) to form a virtual listening circle focused on our ideas and challenges around parent engagement and to think about how we can support each other going forward. Colleagues in Southwark will host our next meeting in January 2021 and we will be looking at an example of training for parent advocates.
