SHIELD would like to announce the ‘CREST panel’ to colleagues and partners within the London Borough of Bexley. ‘CREST’ stands for Children at Risk of Exploitation Specialist Safeguarding Task Group. It is the operational multi-agency panel which focuses on adolescent vulnerability and risk in
Bexley and which brings agencies together to agree on actions required to minimise risk, and disrupt organised exploitation. It replaces the Multi-agency Sexual Exploitation (MASE) operational panel and has wider remit to include all aspects of contextual safeguarding. There will be updates for partners on the recent developments in training, and the support available to young people and their families, and practitioners at the SHIELD conference on the 8th of October 2020.
Adolescent vulnerability is high on the agenda in Bexley and has been a topic of priority work since 2018. SHIELD in collaboration with partner agencies and colleagues has been working to improve on how we can all collectively try to address the complex issues arising from contextual safeguarding. The aim of CREST is to bring a coordinated approach to responding to risk, and better understanding exploitation. This is just part of the plan to ensure young people in Bexley have the opportunity to reach their full potential protected from harm.
SHIELD is working closely with our tri-borough partners in Lewisham and Greenwich as part of the development work. Please look out for more announcements and updates – including on forthcoming presentations on the new CREST arrangements – and we look forward to seeing you at the conference
in October 2020! Please let us know if you would like to register for the conference.
