In a recent Learning from Practice group meeting, members reflected on the different working arrangements many agencies have adopted since the lockdown period. They were invited to share their experiences of how they have had to adapted their practice and they highlighted the following:

  • Now supervision sessions with staff members are taking place ‘virtually’, these have been more focused sessions
  • Staff have been able attend more meetings as travel times etc are no longer an issue
  • GP attendance at child protection conferences has improved, again due to travel no longer being an issue
  • Bromley Healthcare have been invited more regularly to meetings such as strategy discussions
  • An online specialised domestic abuse & COVID-19 training session for health colleagues and in particular GPs was well attended and received. (There are now plans to hold more specialist training for these practitioners who are not usually able to attend due to busy work schedules.)

These examples show how agencies are turning the challenge of COVID into new opportunities to improve multi-agency working. If you would like to share a ‘good news’ or ‘good practice’ story, please email
