Children Looked After
When families seek support, the Local Authority Children’s Services will assess them. Sometimes the outcome is that the child is ‘looked after’ by the Local Authority. You can find out more here:
The Strength and difficulties questionnaire [SDQ]
The SDQ is a clinically validated brief behavioural screening questionnaire. It is used with children who are looked after from ages 11-17 to enable social workers and other professionals to form a view about the emotional wellbeing of a child who is looked after. The questionnaire exists in three versions: a self-evaluation for the child, a version for parents/carers and one for teachers.

Bexley Children Looked After Map
As part of Bexley S.H.I.E.L.D.S.’s work undertaken for its priority – Understanding the multi-agency response to and the service provision for Looked After Children in Bexley – the Learning Hub was tasked with producing a resource which sets out what services are available and by who to Bexley’s Looked After Children.
Children in the care of Bexley Children’s Services are supported by the Children Looked After Teams. Other services and partners may refer to Children Looked After by slightly different terminology such as “Looked After Children” or “Children in Care”. It is noted that the language around this is not always consistent in this space, but for the purposes of this resource S.H.I.E.L.D. have used “Children Looked After” throughout.
This resource is for children, young people, their carers, and professionals supporting them. This map of the professionals that are available to support Bexley’s Looked After Children is designed to help children and young people get a better understanding of who will be in their network to support them, and what their individual roles are. To ensure this is accessible for all children and young people, different maps have been produced for the varying age ranges. Younger children would benefit from looking at this with support from their carer, or another adult that supports them. Older children will be able to access this independently, if they would prefer to.
